Allentown RowHomes Devastated in 3rd Alarm Fire


Around 0230 Hours Sunday Morning Allentown Firefighters are sent to the 1100 Blk of Catasauqua Ave in the City for a reported house fire. Crews arrived on location and reported a working fire and started to stretch lines into the dwelling, with the fire advancing quickly a 2nd alarm was struck. Crews deployed into neighboring homes in the row to try and get ahead of the fire, interior crews encountered heavy fire conditions as they pulled ceiling and advanced lines to try and gain control. As the fire gained the cockloft in the row and started to run a 3rd alarm was struck bringing in all available firefighters in the city. Crews took to the roof to put a trench cut in place to make a stand against the inferno. Crews worked for several hours hitting the fire from the ground, tower ladder, and roofs of other structures to knock down the flames. One firefighter was injured during the fight and most of the shift was exhausted, residence from the homes watched on as the fire was finally brought under control as the sun came up. In all 7 homes are damaged or destroyed in the fire and over 20 people are displaced, the fire marshal's with head up the investigation to this fire.....
