AFD Handles Working Fire and Fatal Pin Job on the East Side at the Same Time

Saturday Night into Sunday Morning proved to be very busy for the AFD, It all started Early Sunday morning when AFD was dispatched to the area of Irving and Hanover for a reported House Fire, Police go off in the area and report smoke in the area with a small fire on the porch of a home on Irving Street. Engine 13 arrives on location and reports a fire on the porch and calls for a can, as crews are checking the home they found a Fire in the basement and the working fire was transmitted. Crews stretch a line into the basement and then follow it up with a 2nd line, they put a quick knock on the fire and open up checking for hotspots. On the Box Engine 13, 6, Truck 2 and Battalion 43, FM 45 and Engine 4 FAST. Engines 11 and 14 will arrive a little into the job after clearing an accident with Rescue.


Then Around the Same time as the House Fire Engine 9 is sent to the 1700 Blk of Hanover for an accident with injury and reported Vehicle Fire, they arrive on location and report a two vehicle accident with 3 people pinned. The box is sent bringing engines 14 and 11 to assist with extrication, crews remove two and they are transported to a local trauma center. The Coroner is called for one Class 5 at the scene, Hanover Ave is closed for several hours while APD investigates the accident..
