Around 0315 hrs on 4.9.12 Philadelphia Box 361 was dispatched for a fire in a 6
story warehouse at the intersection of Jasper St and East York. The
fire quickly escalated to a 5th alarm assignment, with in 1.5 hrs they
had a collapse in side a and also was
reporting the fire to be darkened down. During master stream operations
along with checking for extension in exposure buildings another
collapse occurred this one trapping several firefighters. Crews
immediately went to work attempting to locate and rescue the trapped
members. A total of 5 were taken to the hospital 2 of which died due to
injuries. Lt. Robert Neary and FF Daniel Sweeney, both from Ladder 10
paid the ultimate price and will not be forgotten.......
