In the Late morning hours of Monday the 26th Lehigh County Stations 51 and 8 was dispatched to I-78 for a tractor trailer fire, while responding crews were advised of calls reporting the tractor fully involved and starting to spread to the trailer. With that report 51 command requested a 2nd alarm struck bringing in additional engines, tanker, and a truck company. Crews arrived to find the Cab well off and led off with a 2.5 knocking the fire down in about 11 minutes and some of the 2nd alarm was recalled. The highway was closed for about an hour and reduced to one lane for a couple of hours while the scene was cleared.
