Fatal Accident with Hazmat Spill Upper Milford Twp


Around 2200 hrs on Sunday night Lehigh County Communications dispatches a Rescue Box for Buckeye Rd and Tank Farm Rd in Upper Milford Township. Crews go responding and are advised that a car struck a Fuel Tanker Truck and the driver was trapped in the vehicle. Once on location Station 28 command advised they had a car under the truck with heavy entrapment and a large fuel spill coming from the tanker, the truck was fully loaded with 7600 Gallons of Diesel Fuel and it was leaking from broken piping at a rate of 100 Gallons a minute. Lehigh County Special Ops was called for the Hazmat purposes of the spill and the coroner was notified for the trapped occupant. Crews worked to control the spill and EMA officials along with the DEP were notified of the situation, crews would remain on scene for several hours before the situation would be resolved..
