Baby Killed in Overnight Slatington Shooting


Right around Midnight Police and EMS were dispatched to 214 Walnut St in the Borough of Slatington for a reported shooting. As units were responding they received reports of a young infant that was shot, Police arrive on location and request units to expedite for a GSW to the head. EMS Crews arrive on location and report the victim to be Class 5 the Lehigh County Coroner and DA was on location of the scene and a female was detained for questioning. We will update as more information becomes available.
  
Updated Information: The Lehigh County Coroners Office has officially ruled this shooting a Homicide and that the investigation is ongoing. According to reports from area news articles the Mother of the baby was taken into custody and charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment. They also are reporting that according to the court records the gun involved was a Smith and Wesson .44 caliber and the mother told police that she had planned to sell the gun for $200 to a man she referred to as "Low," from Allentown who she used to purchase drugs off of. It is also reported that the mother told police she was preparing to sell it and as she was trying to remove the bullets, she apparently caught the hammer and the gun discharged striking the child in its crib...
